Sectors

We map any industry.

Most of our work spans several sectors at once, and it has covered 88 so far. The method holds in any industry: we read its public records, map every company and who owns it, then put the map to work.

What we read, and what the map is for

Public records feeding one sector map, and the map feeding five kinds of workA row of six kinds of public record at the top: state licenses and permits, regulator filings, government contracts and awards, company registrations and officers, loan, lien and property records, and court records. One line runs down from them to a square for one sector's map, and five lines branch from the square to five kinds of work: raising capital from the investors who already back the sector, buying companies in it, finding buyers and partners in it, testing a thesis about it, and checking a deal against its records.

The public records we read

  • State licenses and permits
  • Regulator filings
  • Government contracts and awards
  • Company registrations and officers
  • Loan, lien and property records
  • Court records

One sector, mapped

  1. Raise Capital

The investors who already back companies in the sector.

  2. Source Deals

Every company you could buy in it, and who owns each.

  3. Grow Revenue

The buyers and partners who could bring you sales.

  4. Map the Market

Whether your thesis about the sector holds up.

  5. Underwrite and Diligence

A deal's claims, checked against the sector's own records.
