Sources and scope
- Who is listed
- Family offices whose own website gives an office address in the city of Mumbai and calls the firm a family office, or says it invests its own family's capital; its own words are quoted in its row with the date read. Offices that manage money for several outside families are listed as multi-family offices. Of the 44 offices checked, 14 are another kind of firm by their own sites (wealth managers and advisers that serve families beside other work, an adviser to family offices, a private bank's service and an investment bank among them) and are not listed; 9 are held until a re-read confirms their kind or a Mumbai address; 8 are based elsewhere in India and stay on Family Offices in India.
- Order
- A to Z. No office here files a figure that could rank it.
- Figures
- None of the 46 advisers with a Mumbai main office in the SEC's Form ADV files of October 2026 is a family office. India keeps no register of family offices: SEBI registers investment advisers and portfolio managers, the Reserve Bank of India registers NBFCs, and neither register states a firm's kind. No office on the list states a size figure on its own site.
- Family names
- Where an office's own site names the family it serves, the family's surname follows the office's name; a family's source of wealth is named, as an industry, only where the office's own site names it.
- Sources
- Each office's own website; SEC Form ADV adviser data. Candidates came from our published India, single family and multi-family office lists and from web searches, used for names only.
